Movement Health Tips:
🦵 Movement Health Tips: Why Hip Mobility Matters for Cyclists 🚴♂️
Tight hips are one of the most common limitations in cyclists—and they can quietly sabotage performance, comfort, and long-term joint health. Here’s why hip mobility should be a top priority in your cycling routine:
✅ More Power with Every Pedal Stroke – Mobile hips allow for full range of motion, meaning better mechanics and stronger, more efficient pedal strokes. Stiff hips limit your ability to engage glutes and hamstrings, reducing your overall output.
✅ Reduced Knee & Lower Back Pain – When hips are tight, the body compensates—often putting extra strain on the knees and lumbar spine. Keeping your hips mobile helps distribute forces more evenly and reduces the risk of overuse injuries.
✅ Better Saddle Comfort & Posture – Hip flexibility helps you maintain a neutral spine and ideal pelvis position on the bike. This means less pressure on soft tissues and more comfort during long rides.
✅ Improved Recovery & Longevity – Healthy hip movement patterns reduce wear and tear on joints and tissues over time, supporting a longer, pain-free riding career.
Unlock your hips and feel the difference on your next ride! If you need guidance on addressing your hip mobility, just reply to this email and we will discuss how we can help!

🚴♂️ Handlebar Adjustments for Comfort and Control 🚴♀️
Handlebar Fit: Geometry, Adjustability, and Solving Hand Numbness
Handlebar setup plays a huge role in both comfort and control, and each bike discipline has its own unique geometry based on the demands of that riding style.
Road Bikes use drop bars that allow multiple hand positions and an aerodynamic posture. These are narrower and lower to prioritize speed and efficiency.
Gravel Bikes look similar to road bikes but often have flared drops and a more relaxed reach, providing extra stability and comfort on varied terrain.
Mountain Bikes use flat or riser bars that are wider, offering better control and leverage on technical trails. The more upright geometry reduces strain on the back and wrists.
Hybrid and Commuter Bikes have higher, swept-back bars that prioritize upright posture and comfort, perfect for short or casual rides.
Adjustability Components to Know:
Stem Length & Angle: One of the easiest components to adjust. A shorter or more angled stem can bring your handlebars closer and higher, reducing reach and hand pressure.
Spacer Stack Height (for threadless stems): Adjusting spacers above or below the stem changes handlebar height (and effective reach).
Handlebar Width: Wider bars offer more stability, but going too wide or too narrow can cause shoulder or wrist discomfort.
Rotation & Hood Position (for drop bars): Rotating the bar slightly or repositioning brake hoods can drastically improve wrist alignment.
If You’re Experiencing Hand Numbness…
Numbness in the hands is a common issue and usually stems from too much pressure on the ulnar or median nerves. A few easy things to try:
Raise the bars or shorten the stem to reduce forward weight on your hands.
Rotate the bars slightly upward to allow a more neutral wrist position.
Change hand positions frequently (especially with drop bars).
Check your grip size or consider padded bar tape or gloves for added cushion.
Small adjustments can go a long way in keeping your hands pain-free and your ride enjoyable. If you’re still struggling, it may be time for a full fit to dial in posture and pressure balance!!!
